Blood Donation Camp on World Aids Day

1st December, 2013
You don’t have to have a medical degree to save a life. Just a fair degree of humanity.

kartavya ,on behalf of IIM Raipur,  in association with Indian Red Cross Society, organized a Blood Donation camp at Magneto The Mall on 1st December, 2013. This was done on World Aids Day to create awareness among the people that donating blood costs nothing, but can save a life.

The initiative received a huge response from the masses making the total number of volunteers donating blood to 103(more than 30 litres) . The event continued for 6 hours at a stretch from 2 p.m to 6 p.m with students from the college enthusiastically participating in it.

Few drops of blood, and you can help a life bloom!!!

A few facts about blood donation:
  • Every year our nation requires about 4 Crore units of blood, out of which only a meager 40 Lakh units of blood are available.
  •  More than 38,000 blood donations are needed every day.
  • A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 units of blood.
  •  Every two seconds someone needs blood.
Blood cannot be manufactured – it can only come from generous donors.

So donate blood whenever you can. Give the gift that keeps on living!
